The Sanctuary Sound Safari with Nature’s Orchestra invites you to take part in a different kind of African adventure hosted by Derek Solomon. This unique opportunity to experience safari in a completely new way. While on game drives, guests will be able to link into powerful microphones via individual headsets to tune into the sights as well as the sounds of Africa - a pod of hippos “chatting” underwater or the call of a leopard...

Derek Solomon is one of Southern Africa's leading freelance safari guides who also works with National Geographic as a specialist naturalist. Derek’s main interest is animal communication and spends most of his time recording a wide variety of wildlife sounds, most of which is stored at the Cornell University in the USA. While based in South Luangwa he did some work on underwater communication in hippos, the frogs of South Luangwa and was also able to build up a large collection of bird sounds. Derek has produced several wildlife sound CD’s, one based on the South Luangwa entitled "A Luangwa Adventure" with part of the proceeds going to the Chipembele Wildlife & Education Trust.
